INTERFIX-S Injection
Active Ingredients: Ceftriaxone Sodium 1 g + Sulbactam 500 mg.
Family: Third-Generation Cephalosporin Antibiotic Combination with a Beta-Lactamase Inhibitor.
Indications: INTERFIX-S may be indicated for the treatment of selected bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, including respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft-tissue, intra-abdominal, and other infections when supported by the approved product labeling and clinical assessment.
Clinical Benefits: Ceftriaxone inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis, while sulbactam inhibits certain beta-lactamase enzymes that can contribute to antibiotic resistance. This complementary mechanism may improve antibacterial activity against susceptible beta-lactamase-producing organisms.
Key Benefits: Combines a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic with a beta-lactamase inhibitor in an injectable formulation. It provides a treatment option for selected bacterial infections requiring parenteral antibiotic therapy and may support effective infection management when the causative organism is susceptible.
Dosage and Administration: The dose, route of administration, frequency, and treatment duration must be determined by a qualified healthcare professional according to the type and severity of infection, patient age, clinical condition, and relevant prescribing information. Administration must follow the approved product instructions.
Possible Adverse Effects: Common or clinically relevant adverse effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, injection-site pain, skin rash, and changes in liver enzymes or blood-cell counts. Serious reactions may include severe allergic reactions, antibiotic-associated colitis, and other significant complications.
Important Safety Information: Use only for bacterial infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be susceptible. Assess any history of allergy to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics. Ceftriaxone must not be administered simultaneously with calcium-containing intravenous solutions. Appropriate medical supervision is essential.
Clinical Positioning: INTERFIX-S combines ceftriaxone's antibacterial activity with sulbactam's beta-lactamase-inhibiting action, offering a potential option for managing selected susceptible bacterial infections in accordance with approved prescribing guidelines.
