Zoncef -S inj

Product Description

ZONCEF-S Injection
Composition: Cefoperazone 1 gr+ Sulbactam 1 gr

Family: Third-Generation Cephalosporin Antibiotic + Beta-Lactamase Inhibitor.

Indications: ZONCEF-S is indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, including selected respiratory tract, urinary tract, intra-abdominal, skin and soft-tissue, and other serious infections, according to culture results and approved prescribing information.

Clinical Benefit: ZONCEF-S combines cefoperazone, a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic, with sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. This combination enhances antibacterial activity against susceptible beta-lactamase-producing organisms and supports the treatment of a range of clinically significant bacterial infections.

Mechanism of Action: Cefoperazone inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial cell death. Sulbactam inhibits certain beta-lactamase enzymes that can inactivate antibiotics, helping protect cefoperazone against susceptible enzyme-producing bacteria.

Dosage and Administration: Each vial contains a total of 2 g: cefoperazone 1 g and sulbactam 1 g. The dose, frequency, route, and duration depend on the type and severity of infection, patient condition, and renal or hepatic function. Administration and reconstitution must be performed according to the manufacturer's instructions by a qualified healthcare professional.

Precautions: Assess for cephalosporin or other beta-lactam antibiotic allergies before administration. Use cautiously in patients with hepatic or renal impairment and monitor for clinically significant adverse reactions. Antibiotic treatment should follow appropriate clinical assessment and antimicrobial stewardship principles.

Drug Interactions: Potential interactions include anticoagulants and other medicines that may increase bleeding risk. Cefoperazone may affect coagulation in susceptible patients. Alcohol should be avoided during treatment and for the period specified in the approved product information because cefoperazone may cause a disulfiram-like reaction.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Use only when clinically indicated following an individualized assessment by a healthcare professional.
