A unique Gastrokinetic and Antiemetic drug
- Dual mode of action: Act at CTZ and GI level
- More effective than ondansetron for the prevention of delayed nausea and/or vomiting after highly emetogenic chemotherapy
- Unlikely metoclopramide cross BBB to a lesser extent, hence no Extrapyramidal Side effects (movement disorders such as acute dystonic reactions, pseudoparkinsonism, or akathisia)
- Superior to ondansetron in acute apomorphine challenge
- Not associated with respiratory depression, oversedation, agitation, hallucinations that have been reported with promethazine
INDICATION
- Control of nausea and vomiting of central or local origin
- postoperative nausea and vomiting
- Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
- diabetic gastroparesis
